Our garden program is GROWING!
We received two grants this year that will help us realize our goal of creating a new veggie garden, next to the orchard. The geo garden has served Birch Lane well but the space is getting more shade than we would like. Our new locale is bright and sunshiney. Perfect for veggies!
First we received a $250 grant from HM Clause. HM Clause is a local seed company that is “dedicated to innovative and sustainable development of the highest quality vegetable seeds.” They are a group of kind and hard working individuals that value education, especially when it pertains to seed science. They are excited to help school garden programs!
Second, we received a $2,000 grant from the Whole Kids Foundation. “Whole Kids Foundation, a Whole Foods Market foundation, is based in Austin, Texas, and operates as an independent non profit organization. By empowering schools and inspiring families, the Foundation aims to help children reach optimal health through the strength of a healthy body fueled by nutritious food.” We were thrilled to learn that we were picked for the grant that will enable us to pick nutritious food with Birch Lane students!

Lastly, we will need parent volunteers to help us create our new garden space. If you would like to help, please contact birchlanegardens@gmail.com! Help us GROW!
